Requires Large Building Shells tech to build. At 35 Building Material it is a moderately expensive structure that nearly doubles its floor space with its exposed roof. The central dome is impassable and therefore cannot be built upon, but the arms of the structure provide a very decent floor space.
The Y-House can be purchased in the following cities and towns:
- Black Scratch - 28,000 cats
- Clownsteady - 28,000 cats
- Mongrel - 14,000 cats
- Stoat - 28,000 cats
Comparison to similar buildings[]
There are two other buildings which cost the same number of building materials but with different floorplans:
Both of them offer less interior space. When also taking into consideration that each building adds a deadzone around it (once its placement is confirmed), the Y-House interior actually ends up being much more arrangeable than the other two, as their condensed area ends up working against you.
It is worth noting however that it can be hard to place other building shells near the Y-House due to its shape and buffer zones. If exterior space is a concern, the other options might be more friendly.
Notably, the Y-House it is pretty much a straight upgrade of the Longhouse. Due to the aforementioned deadzones, the increase in usable space is bigger than the increase in "raw" floor space. Additionally, the rooftop tower on Longhouses takes away more usable space than the dome on the Y-House. However, it is worth noting that the tower is a good turret mount point due to its height bonus.
