  • Yo!

What's the best for talking about overrides? Create an article for each kind of override for a city? Or write all overrides of the concerned city in his article? Something else?

    I apologize for my english

    • I personally want to make a separate page for each override.

      • less exploration spoilery in case people are new players and want to comment on their first couple cities, then they wont have to scroll past all that stuff before getting to comments section
      • keeps location pages relatively similar length - otherwise we'd have really long pages on towns with like 5 overrides, meaning redundant sections on town residents

An example of this which we already have would be The Free City.

I'd like to hold off on just creating pages wildly so that we can collectively come up with a naming scheme. Like the Town Residents category, we don't need to make articles have the same name as the FCS names. (of course the articles will include that detail tho)

    • I brainstormed some article names in the Overrides sections of some location pages - specifically Admag and probably some others a couple months ago when I first considered this issue.

    • here, I'll put a poll in case some people have opinions but don't want to reply.

Where should full information about a Town Override be?

      0

      0

      7

The poll was created at 02:00 on May 21, 2020, and so far 7 people voted.

    • Separate pages seems like the right choice, as a change of hands between certain factions can entirely reshape the face of and potential dangers presented in a given location. I think there should at least be a layer of some kind to prevent spoilery reveals when on the static page for a town.

    • How about this?

      At Overrides.

I'm agree with both off you, I want to help but my english is bad. I can seek information and put it raw in location articles, and create new articles about overrides but I don't want to make a mistake with the article name due to my lake of vocabulary. Is it possible to change an article name? What is my mistake window?

    • I'm definitely in favor of separate pages. For essentially every reason Jelly mentioned. Given how much can change between an override and the original location, they really need their own page to be able to really show everything different, and be linked to by other articles.

Articles can be renamed fairly easily. A bit of work to update all the links to that page, but not much thanks to the what links here page. https://kenshi.fandom.com/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere

    • Yeah, the primary issue with renaming is updating the links to the new one. (as i personally try to avoid creating redirects)

I can see these Override Locations pages being linked to from World StatesTown Overrides, and pages in these categories: Characters, Town Residents, Factions, Zones, and Locations (of course). I want to have some planning done before starting things out so that the names make sense together before we start linking.

    • If I read correctly I can starting new articles about a specific override without link to this new article. It will be a smart copy/paste of raw information ah ah

    • Wouldnt it be better organized if the unnamed overrides be named with the town first then the faction/state?

    • I plan on changing the way which these pages are sorted on the Category:Locations page so that they are in order after the initial location, not in just article title alphabetical. This is something which is easier to change than changing the name.

Grammatically, we could choose to name these pages like "Stoat, Tech Hunters" instead of "Tech Hunters Stoat." That might help searchability if people are typing the city name first. I'd prefer not to name pages with "-" or ":" in the title.
