  • Hey, was wondering if you knew anything about the Forgotten Construction Set and could help me out with navigating it a bit. I'm trying to find bits of dialogue contained within to make some lore entries but I can't seem to find the packages/lines of dialogue I need (was trying to find Armour King). If you don't know anything, that's fine; I'll play around with it a bit and see what I can figure out.

    • Sorry, not a question for me, but I happened to see it when scrolling though the logs. :P

Usually I start with the characters themselves. It's far easier to find than anything else, and often the dialog package will be referenced there. The few cases the dialog is not set form the character entry, it will be set from the squad itself. You can use the button in the top right to access references. Open the squad(s) listed in there, and you should see the dialog or package on the right of the entry.

Not a problem. It's an open discussion and I'm looking for help wherever I can find it.

I believe (with your help) I figured it out, so I'll start updating the wiki with some dialogue entries. Epic.

    • I always right click to list references.

dialogue packages can be tricky sometimes because the name of the dialogue package or the dialogue itself doesn't appear in game, so it isn't pretty. the naming system for stuff is inconsistent, but through it you can learn some development history like how Burn was potentially originally named Ted.

Optimally for wiki find-ability, these discussions would do best in the Forum, but quickly answerable ones like this are fine wherever. <3

I see. Thanks a bunch for your guys' help! I'll make sure to post future questions on the forum, so it can help others. I was real confused at first, but I got it now. I'll get to editing.

  • Template:Construction looks really good, why is it currently used on only 3 articles? What was it lacking? Is there anything I could help with to make it better?

  • Hiho!

Do you by any chance remember why Prototype grade in Template:Grade/Short uses DarkText colour instead of the Prototype one? it was changed in this diff. Was it a readability issue?

If it indeed was a readability problem then maybe the Template:ArmourLocations-start background should be taken into consideration? I'm not sure if I'm the only one having this problem so I don't really want to touch the looks (too global of a decision to be made by just me), but pretty much everything in ArmourLocations seems beige on beige and personally I'm having difficulties reading the details most of the time.

Template:Armour on the other hand has some issues with the prototype and standard grade colours but other than that, visually - it just works.

  • Hi. For Kenshi wiki, considering moving Ashland Hat because it is "Light Armour that is equipped in the Headgear slot" but currently listed under Clothing.  What do you think?

      Loading editor
    • sounds like a good reason to change the category.

    • I took a closer look and the Ashland Hat it seems is not designated as a [Light Armour] class.  So, it does seem to be a Clothing item afterall.  I edited the description of Ashland Hat instead :)

  • Hey. You are the admin here, so I'm not going to overrule your edits just like that, but I think you missed out on a change since beta days. Your edit on Gurgler Head: The Great Library is't actually a store. The Library is very much a store though. I spend like 300K Cats buying out all blueprints the first time I was there (unmodded game).

  • Did you know that the game only takes the lowest number between Chest and Stomach when calculating stat penalties to Strength and Dexterity?

That means that you will be suffering the same penalties at (Chest[20] Stomach[80]) and (Chest[20] Stomach[20])

I'm working on deriving the exact formulas for stat penalties with in-game testing, I want to know if someone's already done this before.

  • I want to edit a page but I'm not sure about what I'm allowed and not allowed to do.

Any NPC tagged with [Diplomatic Status] is untargetable by ranged weapons. Am I clear to add that into the Diplomatic Status page myself?

    • new infobox is so that it looks as close to the game as possible.

a separate list/picture/template can be made for the size later.

    • yeah we'll eventually put that information back in, i just haven't decided how yet.

  • Hello, I've just joined this wiki and couldn't help but notice that the modding category is lacking in tutorials, especially step-by-step explainations on how to create mods. I would like to know if it would be okay for me to start creating step-by-step tutorials for modding, as well as more FCS references like the ones already present?

    Thank you for considering.

    • Welcome! glad to have you. you are free to create as many modding tutorials as you want.

I will warn you though, Modifications is our current oldest page  (and its such a sad relic that i haven't had the heart to fix it)

      thanks for joining our wiki!

    • Excellent, I'll begin as soon as I can. Before I start contributing, though, is there anything I should know, specifically about formatting?

        Loading editor
    • since we have so few modding tutorials, you can basically pick whatever styling you want.

we do have like one or 2 templates in use but, for the most part, those pages aren't anything complicated.

right now, me and Smile are working on restyling pages on Buildings. you're more or less on your own, but me and smi will probably read through your edits and we might tweak a thing or 2. (if you're lucky, Shidan might change your pages)

    • Alright, I've finished the first in my series of tutorials, which can be found right here: https://kenshi.fandom.com/wiki/Custom_Weapon_%28Tutorial%29

I'd appreciate if you could look it over and give me any advice for future pages.
