Knife is a Unique Recruit. She is a Flotsam Ninja looking to travel. She'll join the player after a 6,000 Cats payment which she intends to send home to her mother in Stack.

Aside from her recruitment dialogue, all her other dialogue is shared with Pia, Digna, and Reva.
